Introduction

Dr. Jun Fan recently joined the Department of Physics and Materials Science as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Fan received her Ph.D. degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University, USA. She worked under Prof. Mikko Haataja for her Ph.D. thesis and focused on the structure and dynamics of cell membranes. After her Ph.D. she moved to the University of Chicago, USA for her Postdoctoral research. She explored the structure, function and mechanical properties of protein complexes, using Molecular Dynamics simulations and coarse-grained approaches. Her research results have turned into peer-reviewed papers in prestigious journals including Physical Review Letters, Biophysical Letters, Journal of Molecular Biology, and Journal of Chemical Physics, etc.
